Prysmian’s best-in-class solutions receive third-party validation boost
- Prysmian’s E Path program has been validated by UL Solutions
- Validation requires ongoing verification of sites and products operating E Path program
- E Path is Prysmian’s label for best-in-class cable solutions
Prysmian has made a significant step-forward for its proprietary E Path label – which marks Prysmian’s best-in-class cable solutions based on criteria that reflects quality, performance and sustainability standards.
Prysmian has obtained third-party validation from UL Solutions, in accordance with ISO/IEC 17029, of the internal processes and methodology it uses to assess product sustainability performance. Products that meet these criteria may carry Prysmian’s E Path label – confirming that it is executed in alignment with its defined design, processes, and operational requirements.
As part of Validation, an initial pilot assessment was performed on products identified under Prysmian's E Path program to confirm they meet E Path six criteria, confirming their compliance with the defined performance and sustainability requirements.
The Prysmian manufacturing site in Turkey was the first site to be assessed under the E Path program, and the associated products were the first to undergo verification by UL Solutions. Further sites under the E Path program will be assessed in the upcoming months. This validation is a boost for customers, underlining that Prysmian is "walking-the-talk" with the highest quality, most efficient and positive long-term impact cable solutions.
Prysmian set out in its Accelerating Growth strategic plan a target to achieve at least 55% of revenues to come from sustainability-linked solutions by 2028.
Assurance for customers' trust and transparency
UL Solutions’ validation of the E Path program, together with product verification and plant assessments, confirms that the program and associated processes are implemented as defined, providing clear and traceable information to help customers understand and trust how Prysmian’s solutions are managed.
Prysmian’s E Path – what is included?
For a product to be included in E Path, there is an assessment based on the product throughout its life cycle, including:
- The materials used – including recycled content application and the absence of ‘high-concern’ materials, which could have a negative environmental impact
- The carbon footprint of the cable
- The production process – including energy consumption, emissions and process efficiency
- Operational performance – including efficiency
- End-of-life applications – recovery and recyclability of the materials used
E Path is based on a methodology that considers all these criteria – defined by Prysmian - and assigns a score. When it reaches above 55 points, it qualifies as "E Path" – but this score can also be increased over time, to reach the maximum value of 100 points.
Srinivas Siripurapu, Chief Innovation, Sustainability and R&D Officer at Prysmian: “Customers want the most efficient and reliable solutions, and when they buy from Prysmian, they know they are purchasing a quality that stands above the others in terms of how it works, how long it will work, how it was put together and above all, they want that process to be traceable. We are providing all of this, and going beyond, also including criteria about beyond-life usage, the sustainable choice of materials for a positive impact, and mindful action to reduce carbon emissions. E Path isn’t just a cable, it’s a culture. Each site that implements the E Path program gains a strategic advantage, as the approach is not solely based on internal claims but on a defined framework that Prysmian consistently follows. This commitment is reinforced through our independent validation by UL Solutions, a reputable third-party organization, confirming that the program is executed as designed.”
Alberto Uggetti, EVP and Chief Commercial Officer, UL Solutions: “Our work with Prysmian reflects a shared focus on transparency, accountability and progress in sustainability to enable positive business outcomes. Through independent validation, we help support the development of credible, program-specific environmental claims that enable customers to make informed decisions and advance more sustainable and resilient infrastructure.”
