Health and Safety

Protecting our people in the workplace

For Prysmian, protecting the health, safety and wellbeing of our people is our number one priority. The main risks are connected with activities carried out at production sites, on ships and at worksites, requiring constant and comprehensive management.

The Group uses a centralized system to identify, assess and manage risks at Group, regional and business unit level, with the aim of preventing injuries, minimizing impacts and promoting a widespread, responsible safety culture.

Zero & Beyond

The Zero & Beyond philosophy is the basis of Prysmian’s commitment:

  • Zero fatalities, injuries and occupational diseases;
  • Beyond, ensuring safety not just in the workplace, but at home and in the communities in which the Group operates.

Everyone is expected to lead the way in promoting safety, complying with the Golden Rules, reporting any unsafe situations and helping to deliver continuous improvement.

In 2025, the Zero & Beyond philosophy was further promoted worldwide via a specific communication campaign during Safety Month and is an integral part of the Safety Strategy 2025–2030, validated last year with clear, measurable five-year targets.

The strategy and management system

Health and safety issues are managed by the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) team, under a hierarchical governance framework involving Regional HSE Directors and local management.

The Health and Safety Management System, which complies with the UNI ISO 45001:2018 standard and is integrated into the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System for the Group’s plants, enables Prysmian to provide safe and healthy work environments. Using a structured, proactive approach, the Group prevents injuries and occupational diseases, removes or reduces risks – including shortcomings in the system – and encourages continuous improvement in health and safety performance.

The Health, Safety, Environment and Energy (HSEE) Policy guides the Group with transparency and accountability, backed by monitoring, audits and improvement plans.

Prysmian uses comprehensive tools to collect data, monitor injuries and near misses, conduct periodic audits and implement improvement plans.

The main initiatives related to health and safety undertaken by the Group in 2025 include:

  • Worker safety: Zero & Beyond — the program continued to represent the cornerstone of the Group’s HSE strategy, promoting a safety culture based on responsible behaviors, proactive prevention and the involvement of everyone at all levels of the organization. The objective continues to be to go “beyond zero”, aiming to not only eliminate accidents, but to also create a truly safe and healthy work environment.
  • Traffic management: mitigation procedures and measures across all reporting units — 2025 saw the Group focus on traffic within its production sites around the world, implementing standardized procedures, segregated walkways, special signage and obligatory mitigation measures. Centralized monitoring via the global action tracker enables us to assess progress in implementing actions and ensure consistency across all business units.
  • Upgrade of anti-collision technologies on forklifts — Prysmian has launched a plan to update anti-collision technologies installed in its forklift fleet, introducing advanced anti-collision systems and smart sensors to reduce the risk of accidents at logistics and production facilities. The initiative is helping to improve workplace safety and prevent events linked to the movement of materials.

Training

Training is a pillar of Prysmian’s HSE strategy, ensuring that all workers – employees, agency workers and contractors – are aware of and informed about the related risks and their duties and receive the necessary training. This involves programs covering both technical and behavioral aspects, including:

  • Safety Academy: launched in 2021, this program involved 24 HSE professionals in 2025 (up 40% on 2024). This training course is for the Group’s HSE professionals, with modules designed to strengthen technical expertise, managerial skills and knowledge of health, safety and environmental laws.
  • Continuous training: programs covering all areas of technical and behavioral safety, in addition to local laws and regulations.

Monitoring HSE data

The monitoring of HSE is supported by a centralized information system that records accidents, near misses, non-compliance and corrective actions, enabling:

  • Analysis of key HSE KPIs and the comparison of results.
  • Sharing of best practices at global level.
  • Ongoing checks on the achievement of health, safety and environmental targets.
